Sports Authority Field, Denver, CO

SAF_splashscreenSports Authority Field, home of the NFL’s Denver Broncos, recently completed a major renovation of the sound
reinforcement and video systems for the main bowl, and most of its interior spaces. K2 was tasked with the programming and configuration of the audio DSP and digital amplifier systems, as well as the development of custom control programming for several AV systems.

The stadium is designed around a centralized, fully-redundant audio DSP system to allow flexible routing of all audio
sources to the distributed bowl zones, and to each of the interior spaces. The software includes capabilities for
priority paging driven by the emergency systems and miscellaneous local input sources. K2’s challenge was to provide a system that is extremely flexible, includes a robust signal processing chain, yet provides the stadium’s staff and end-users with a very intuitive and comprehensive interface for daily operation and maintenance. To allow direct monitoring and control of each individual amplifier from within the audio DSP graphical user interface, the audio DSP system is custom-programmed to communicate with the digital audio amplifiers over the network. K2’s responsibilities also included the integration of the audio DSP with the stadium’s IPTV system to enable touchpanel control of the video displays and feeds provided in over 120 suites. In addition, local AV systems in several clubs and suites are controlled by the audio DSP system through user-friendly touchpanel interfaces.
